After much uncertainty regarding what this fall would like for our outreaches, we are now in full swing with our “Vote Anti-Abortion” campaign. We are traveling around to states that will be key in the upcoming election encouraging people to vote against abortion this November. We do not look to political leaders as our savior, but as individuals who are flawed and who are called to use their positions of power to serve and protect their constituents. Certainly, the preborn are the ones who are in the most danger in today’s climate.
I will vote for an individual who I know is flawed and imperfect, because that is every candidate. But every day, I will declare that Jesus Christ is my Savior. As we go into the voting booth, we are not so much voting for an individual as we are the worldview that they are standing for. We must examine which worldview aligns most closely with the Christian worldview. We should never blindly follow a candidate or individual; we can throw our support to an individual or a party while also disagreeing with some of the things that they do or say.
Believers in Christ are often told that they should keep their religion out of the political sphere. Janet Porter of Faith2Action writes on this topic, “’Christians should stay out of politics’ is a lie that has kept Christians sidelined in disobedience for decades. To say you’re ‘not interested in politics’ is to say you’re not interested in life, freedom, your rights, your health, or your future. We are called to obey God in every arena – including the political arena – where the decisions that affect us are made.” We are not telling individuals who they must vote for, but to keep in mind that within the hierarchy of issues, where a politician stands on abortion is of the utmost importance. This has only become more evident with the passing of pro-abortion Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
We have already spent several days on campuses here in Columbus, OH. This week our team is on the road in Indiana leading outreaches at abortion facilities, college campuses, and high schools. Later this month we will be at the first Presidential debate in Cleveland, OH. In October, our team will travel to Florida to visit 5 major universities and represent the abortion victims at the Miami Presidential debate as well. The following week we will be at the debate in Nashville, TN. Lastly, during the week before the election, we will be in every major city in Ohio.
Thank you for your prayers and financial support. Through our partnership, many are being reached with the truth of abortion and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am praying for you and your families during these unprecedented times.
It feels great to be back on campuses! Outreach feels different in this cultural moment, but we remain committed to impacting the culture around us, exposing abortion, and sharing the Gospel.
In Christ,
Ian
